Papilloma is primarily a benign neoplasm. Its morphological composition may not change throughout a person's life, but sometimes it can turn into a malignant tumor.
The appearance of papilloma growths is promoted by a virus. According to the latest data, it is found in the body of 90% of the entire population. This does not always lead to the development of papillomatosis. Basically, it wakes up when the functions of the body's immune system decrease.
Causes of the development of papillomavirus
Papillomavirus infection occurs through direct contact between a healthy person and a sick person. Basically this happens:
- Due to casual sexual intercourse without the use of a protective contraceptive method (condom).
- Infection can occur as a result of visiting public places (baths, solariums, swimming pools, saunas).
- If there are wounds on the skin of the hands (even small ones), the risk of infection increases when shaking hands with a sick person.
- Non-observance of the basic standards of general and intimate hygiene related to personal use of towels, scissors and combs.
- A newborn baby can become infected through the mother's birth canal during birth.
Types of papilloma
Papilloma growth looks like a small neoplasm that protrudes slightly above the surface of the skin. Its diameter can reach 10 mm. Places where papillomas occur are armpits, neck and chest area, perineum and intimate organs.
Papilloma growth can manifest itself as follows:
Common wart. The most common manifestation of papillomavirus. Usually, its diameter does not exceed 5 mm and its shape has a rounded outline. Its color practically does not differ from body pigment. Sometimes it can have a slightly brown and rough surface.
Most often located:
- In the hands.
- The head can be hidden under the hair.
- Skin folds.
- In the groin area.
- On the neck.
Chord.Or hanging papilloma. This variety can be distinguished from others by the fact that it is attached to the stem by a thin thread, and its growth is not in width, but in length. This creates some anxiety in a person. Because as it grows, it can get into clothes and get damaged easily.
Also, this type of growth is characterized by multiple growth. They are localized in several parts, mainly in the delicate skin of the neck, eyes and perineum.
Juvenile papillomas. This type of papillomas can be considered the safest growth. In color, they are practically indistinguishable from the skin. And it often disappears after puberty.
Condylomas. There are two types, straight and pointed. When they appear, the patient should be careful. And take their occurrence seriously. They tend to turn into malignant neoplasms. You can get this type of condylomas through sexual contact.
They are often located on the mucous membranes of the external and internal genital organs or around the rectal sphincter. Often their appearance is observed in the oral cavity.
Another danger of these papilloma growths is their propensity for increased trauma. They then become entry points for infection.
When can papillomas be removed at home?
There are mainly two reasons for removing papillomas:
- Medical. This type of neoplasm is based on the ability to turn into a malignant condition. To prevent this from happening, they resort to surgical treatment methods. Removal with a scalpel using a laser or cryodestruction is less commonly used.
- Cosmetic. This reason causes aesthetic concern especially in women.
In any case, the decision to remove papilloma growth should be agreed with a dermatologist. And if he prescribes removal, it is better to do it in an outpatient setting or in a hospital.
Independent removal of this pathological growth can lead to:
- It causes unwanted burns of nearby tissues.
- The development of bleeding.
- Cicatricial changes in the skin.
- If sanitation is not sufficient, the possibility of wound infection is high.
- If the manipulation is performed poorly, relapse may occur.
There are also restrictions, where it is considered impossible to remove papillomas and warts at home.
Papillomatous growth should not be touched or removed:
- If it hypertrophies quickly and changes its color to darker tones.
- If it is localized in the mouth or oropharynx, as well as in the eye or eyelid.
- If the papilloma is damaged and bleeds or changes shape, home removal can cause complications.
In no case should you use scissors, razor or knife to remove papilloma. In addition to being a source of infection, these substances will lead to the opposite effect. The papilloma will grow back, tend to progress rapidly, and be abundant in nature.
When removing papilloma at home, it is recommended to use drugs that can be purchased in pharmacies. Or turn to traditional medicine, which the doctor allows to use.
You should not wrap the leg of the papilloma with threads or cover the body of the growth with adhesive tape or tape. Because after using such recipes, an unaesthetic scar remains and there is a possibility of infection.
When the papilloma is localized in intimate areas, the procedure to remove it should be performed only by a doctor and only in a hospital setting.
Removal of papillomas
You can use drugs sold in pharmacies to carry out high-quality removal of papilloma growths and warts at home. An alternative to this method is the use of folk recipes.
The use of drugs based on alkaline compounds. Before performing such a procedure, it is necessary to treat the skin around the papilloma or wart. This can be done by using an oily cream with a restorative effect.
After that, a small drop of medicine is applied to the center of the papilloma. If the papilloma does not disappear after three days, this manipulation can be repeated.
Positive dynamics can be achieved in the treatment of papillomausing cryodestruction. For this, it is not necessary to visit expensive clinics, it is enough to buy drugs with a freezing effect.
These drugs, once applied to the surface of the growth, freeze it. This leads to a violation of the papilloma's blood supply, as a result of which it dies and disappears.
Poison-based cauterizing drugs. They are very effective against hanging papillomas. They give good results, the reappearance of pathological growth after use is very rarely observed. Medicines containing phenol are used for this purpose. It is a strong poison. In order not to damage the adjacent skin, the drug is applied periodically. At least 15 minutes should pass after the first application of the drug, after which the next layer is applied.
The main thing in the use of these drugs is to determine the exact dosage (determine how many layers should be applied), such a decision should be made only by a doctor.
Solutions of organic origin. This group of pharmacological drugs includes:
- a preparation based on salicylic and lactic acids.
- a podophyllotoxin-based product.
When using a drug containing acids, one drop of the drug is enough. But if there is a need for repeated use, this manipulation can be repeated no later than two days.
Medicinal use with podophyllotoxin sometimes presents certain difficulties, as it must be used twice a day, following a clear schedule of application every 12 hours. Therapy lasts three days.
Papilloma patch. Its chemical composition contains substances that help to reject papillomas or warts. To do this, the papilloma is attached directly and is not removed for a week. When the patch is removed, papilloma growth is rejected. Sometimes it is not possible to remove the papilloma the first time, and then the procedure must be repeated again.
Healing pen.The main ingredient of this medicine is silver nitrate. It has a good bactericidal and cauterizing effect. After moistening the pen with water, it is used to treat the body and surface of the papilloma. During the day, this manipulation can be done two or three times.
Treatment with folk remedies
To treat this pathology, you can use medicinal plants, some household chemicals and vegetables.
Celandine herb, common people call it a wild rabbit. With its help, you can get rid of papillomas and warts located on the human body, except for the impossibility of using it on the face and intimate organs.
Before use, the celandine grass is ground in a meat grinder together with the rhizome. The resulting substance is wrapped with cheesecloth and compressed. The juice is poured into a glass container and the same amount of 40% alcohol or vodka is added. The liquid should be fermented and only then it is ready for use.
The resulting tincture is applied to papillomas or warts for 3 weeks, more than 6 growths cannot be treated at a time.
It is very important to collect celandine during the period of rapid flowering, which is May and June. It is during this period that the largest concentration of active substances is in its composition.
Laundry soap.To get rid of papillomas and warts, laundry soap labeled 65% is best. The treatment procedure is carried out before going to bed. For this, apply a paste of laundry soap diluted with water to the wart area. In the morning, the dried laundry soap is removed with hot water. Such manipulation is allowed for 4 days. If the positive effect is incomplete or absent, the procedure can be repeated after 2 weeks. Tar soap based on birch tar has the same effect.
Using garlic.Garlic has a strong bactericidal effect and can be used to remove papillomas. For this, you need to pass a few cloves of garlic through a blender or meat grinder, mix with olive oil or liquid honey. Mix thoroughly and apply to the papilloma area for 15 minutes. The remaining mixture is washed under running water. Manipulation is carried out no more than twice a day for 7 days.
Vinegar and onion. If the growth of papillomas is localized on the face, oral mucosa or genitals, this combination of products should not be used. Because acetic acid can cause irritation and burning of nearby tissues.
To prepare the medicinal composition, you need to pour vinegar on a medium onion and leave it for 3 hours. Then cut the onion in half and fasten it with a bandage to the body in the area where the papilloma is located. This procedure is carried out before going to bed, and in the morning the bandage is removed and washed with cold water.
Freshly squeezed potato juice. This method of treatment can be used in the treatment of papillomas located in the genitals, perineum and rectum. For this, you can grate the potatoes through a fine grater or use a meat grinder. The resulting pulp is compressed and the surface of the papilloma is treated twice a day.
Horse chestnut.A good effect can be obtained by using it additionally when taking a bath. For this, you need to take half a bucket of chestnuts and steam them with boiling water for 12 hours. After separating the chestnuts, add water to the bath.
This procedure can be performed daily for a week.
Kalanchoe. The leaves of this plant should be used before going to bed. To do this, fix them to the papilloma area using a bandage or adhesive plaster. To increase the effect, the affected surface can be wrapped in cellophane.
Banana peel.It can be used by rubbing on the papilloma surface. Pre-burn it with an alcohol solution of iodine.
Egg whiteit should be applied to the surface of the papilloma, after drying, the procedure is repeated again.
walnut(young fruits), passed through a meat grinder or blender, diluted in half with kerosene. After that, it stops for 20 days. For the treatment of papillomas, it is applied to their surface daily. It can be used no more than 3 weeks.
Papilloma and pregnancy
Most scientific studies have concluded that the HPV virus does not pose a threat to the expectant mother and her baby.
Removal of papillomas is best done after delivery. The use of all types of pharmaceutical products can lead to the development of unwanted side effects in both the mother and the fetus.
Home treatment is prohibited during this period.
Only in extreme cases, when papillomas pose a real threat (turning into a malignant tumor), electrocoagulation, laser therapy or cryodestruction can be used.
Activities after removal of papillomas
If the papilloma or wart is rejected after using these methods,The following recommendations should be followed:
- When visiting the shower or bath, the areas of the body with papillomas should not be subjected to mechanical stress (whip with a broom, rub with a washcloth).
- If the growth is not completely removed, do not try to remove it using scissors or other improvised means.
- Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.
- Treat the wound with antiseptics, keep it clean, use sterile cotton-gauze bandages.
It is important to remember that papillomas are only the result of human papillomavirus infection. They are symptoms of it, and therefore they are more likely to appear again.
